SALESFORCE AND AWS: The Diversity and The Alliance

Salesforce and Amazon Web Services are the two pioneering companies in cloud computing. The two are the globally leading cloud providers in their respective markets.

Salesforce is a cloud-based SAAS company that offers enterprise software in a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, used primarily a CRM tool. AWS is a service provider which primarily sells Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and also provides Platform as a Service (PaaS).

The AWS Cloud provides a broad set of infrastructure services, such as computing power, storage options, networking and databases, delivered as a utility: on-demand, available in seconds, with pay-as-you-go pricing.

In terms of the data capacity and collection, Salesforce.com is bracing ahead of AWS. Salesforce.com has over a period of time, accumulated tremendous customer data, which is the most pertinent and valuable data of organisation. Salesforce.com has a huge data relating to its customer information, the whole list of its user customers, the complete information of the interactions they have with those customers and customer feedback etc.  Salesforce is perpetually and increasingly attempting to collect more and more data, from human resource management to social data. This data stock of Salesforce is unprecedented and is capable of giving a tough competition to AWS, as claimed by Mikhail Malamud, founder of cloud consultancy startup CloudAware.

Though both Salesforce and AWS are play key roles helping companies worldwide to accelerate their digital transformations, but the two cloud services are diverse in their features for services. While Saleforce is essentially known for its huge data, AWS is known for being a full featured Cloud Service with numerous Paas Services that integrate with it. Salesforce has been also displaying strong interest in expanding its influence in the PaaS and IaaS market and in making its platform more accessible. Therefore Salesforce has been making strategic alliance with AWS.

From simplifying and expanding customer engagements with high-impact results to running your firm’s IT infrastructure and resources with confidence, Salesforce and AWS are committed to helping tackle different business challenges of the current time. With the combination of Salesforce and AWS, IT and business stakeholders have access to solutions that can help them provide a superior level of service to their customers.

Salesforce host its servers on AWS cloud and it selected AWS as a Partner in Public Cloud Provider. Last year, Salesforce Heroku officially partnered with AWS, which enabled Heroku users to access and store data, and build and run apps on AWS. Heroku developers are now able to get the advantage of speed and optimum performance in the cloud.

Very recently in September 2018, Salesforce and AWS further expanded their global strategic alliance announcing new product integrations that dramatically simplify for  customers secured sharing and synchronizing of data across AWS and Salesforce services. The alliance will function in 3 manner:  AWS PrivateLink Integration with Salesforce APIs, AWS Integration With Salesforce Platform Events and Integration with Amazon Connect for Salesforce Service Cloud.
